My work during my e-Fellowship:

Beyond the virtual classroom – Developing literacy through the use of online communities in English

This project will look at how student blogs and class wikis can be utilized to raise literacy levels in the context of formal writing (AS 90053) preparation and practice. The project will focus on how ICT is used beyond the classroom as we are presented with the challenge of limited access to computers in the classroom. We will look at the benefits (and pitfalls) of online collaborative writing and online feed forward and feedback.

My Current Educational and e-Learning Interests:

In my present role as Director of e-learning at Epsom Girls Grammar School I am leading our ICTPD contract. I am particularly interested in how Teaching as Inquiry can be used to support the effective integration if e-learning strategies to raise student outcomes. In the videos below I have attempted to explain how we have used Teaching as Inquiry as part of ICT PD initiative. All resources and reflections related to this initiative are shared on the VLN (see link below).

Claire Amos is director of eLearning at Epsom Girls' Grammar. In this EDtalk recorded at Learning@school 2011 Claire talks about how the school is using a 'teaching as inquiry' cycle to inform the eLearning action plans that will be implemented by professional learning groups in each of the school's curriculum areas. Claire describes the process the teachers are going through in this initiative.
